Magnetic tiles can turn your Luella Play Wall into a whole new kind of play space — from flat designs to 3D structures and ball runs.

The best building method depends on which Luella Play Wall you have.

Toddler Mag Play Wall

Building 3D Structures

For 3D magnetic tile builds on the Toddler Mag Play Wall, start your backing layer from the floor or baseboard and build upward.

The Toddler Mag is designed for lighter magnetic play, so larger 3D structures need physical support from underneath.

Step 1 — Start at the Baseboard

Place your first row of magnetic tiles directly above the floor or baseboard.

Step 2 — Build Your Backing Upward

Continue adding connected tiles upward along the Play Wall.

Create a wide backing area before adding your 3D structure.

Step 3 — Build Outward

Once you have a supported backing layer, begin connecting tiles outward to create your 3D build.

You can create houses, garages, tunnels, castles and other structures while the floor or baseboard helps support the weight.

Toddler Mag Building Rule

For 3D builds: start from the floor or baseboard and build upward.

Do not start a large 3D structure from the middle of the Toddler Mag Play Wall without support underneath.

Ultra-Mag Play Wall

Building Flat Designs

Magnetic tiles can be placed directly anywhere across the Ultra-Mag Play Wall for flat designs and creative magnetic play.

Building 3D Structures

With the Ultra-Mag Play Wall, you can start your 3D magnetic tile build anywhere on the wall.

You do not need to begin from the floor or baseboard.

The key is to create a strong backing first.

Step 1 — Choose Where You Want to Build

Start your structure anywhere on the Ultra-Mag Play Wall.

Step 2 — Create a Wide Backing

Connect several magnetic tiles directly against the wall to create a strong foundation.

Avoid relying on one single tile to support a large 3D structure.

Step 3 — Build Outward

Once your backing is established, begin connecting tiles outward.

For larger structures, keep the backing wide and distribute the weight across several tiles.

Step 4 — Add More Supported Layers

You can continue building outward up to approximately three supported layers when the structure has a strong backing.

Ultra-Mag Building Rule

You can start anywhere on the wall — just build a strong backing before building outward.

Magnetic Tile Ball Runs

For ball runs, we recommend the same method for both Toddler Mag and Ultra-Mag:

Start from the floor or baseboard and build upward.

Even with Ultra-Mag, beginning your ball run from the bottom gives the structure more support as the tubes, connectors and moving balls add extra weight.

Starting from the floor or baseboard also makes it easier to create larger and more complex ball runs.

A Simple Weight-Saving Tip

On straight sections, use half of the ball-run tube where your magnetic tile system allows it.

For curved sections, use the full tube to help keep the ball securely inside the track.
