How to Build 3D Structures That Stay Strong

building outward from the ultra-mag play wall is a great way to create 3D structures, but the key to keeping them strong and stable is creating a solid magnetic base first.

Build a Strong Base

Start by creating a wide backing layer of magnetic tiles directly against the Ultra-Mag Play Wall.

We recommend using 2.5" × 2.5" (6.5 cm × 6.5 cm) / 3" × 3" (7.5 × 7.5 cm) magnetic tiles for the play.

Tip : Never try to support a 3D build with just a single tile.

A wider base provides more magnetic connection points and helps distribute the weight of your structure. thinking gravity and possibility and experiment! This is the funnest physic class for your kids.

Add More Layers

Once your backing layer is securely attached to the wall, begin connecting your second and third layers outward from the base structure.

The larger your backing area, the more support you have for building larger and more complex 3D structures.

Build Ball Runs from the Bottom Up

While it can be fun to create ball runs using floating magnetic tiles, starting your ball run from the floor or baseboard is the easiest and most stable way to build.

By starting from the bottom, you can:

Build a much larger and more complex ball run

Create a stronger foundation as you build upward

Save weight on straight paths: use half of the ball-run tube when the path is straight

Keep balls secure on curves: use the full tube on curved sections to help prevent the ball from falling out

Make it easier for children to build and adjust the ball run themselves

Reduce the weight and stress placed on the upper wall sections

Our recommendation:

If you plan to use your Ultra-Mag Play Wall primarily for ball-run play, install the wall starting from the baseboard or floor upward. This gives your ball run a solid starting point and makes it easier to create bigger, more stable designs.

The Ultra-Mag Play Wall is more than a place to stick magnetic tiles. Think of it as an open-ended play surface that can change with your child.

What Can You Use on It?

The Ultra-Mag Play Wall works with magnetic building tiles and other toys with a rubber-backed magnetic surface.

You can experiment with:

Magnetic building tiles

Flat magnets, such as animal magnets and magnetic jigsaw puzzles

Magnetic letters and numbers

Ball-run pieces and magnetic accessories

Other lightweight magnetic toys

The rule of thumb is simple :

the more of the magnet that makes direct contact with the play wall, the better the hold.

Flat magnets with a full magnetic surface usually work very well. You can also get creative with lightweight objects such as cardboard, wooden, or plastic boxes and pen holders by adding a suitable magnet to them.

Larger or deeper 3D objects generally won't hold as well because they create more leverage and put more weight away from the wall.

Important :

Always test a new dry-erase marker on a small, inconspicuous area first. Some brands or colors may leave marks or stain the surface.

To clean, simply wipe with a damp cloth. Avoid leaving drawings on the surface for extended periods, especially marker or darker colors, as they may become more difficult to remove.

The Ultra-Mag Play Wall is significantly stronger than our original version and is one of our most capable play walls yet. Instead of using a thick, heavy steel board, we chose a high-quality, eco-friendly flexible steel sheet.

This keeps the play wall:

This design is intentional. It's the balance we believe works best for most families.

Because the steel sheet is thin and flexible, there is a limit to how much weight it can support. That's simply how magnets and gravity work.

The Ultra-Mag Play Wall is designed to expand what's possible with magnetic play—not replace building from the ground up.

Stronger Magnets, Without Compromising Our Materials

There are two commonly used types of ferrite rubber magnets: strontium ferrite and barium ferrite.

Barium ferrite can provide stronger magnetic force, while strontium ferrite offers advantages in environmental compliance and is widely used where stricter environmental standards apply.

For our product, we use strontium ferrite to meet applicable environmental requirements.

We've worked to increase the magnetic hold as much as possible while keeping the product environmentally responsible.

The goal is simple: stronger everyday magnetic play without simply making the product heavier or compromising the materials we choose to use.

How Many Times Can You Reposition It?

The backing is designed to be removable and repositionable—but it's not magic.

Every time you remove and re-stick the play wall, the adhesive backing can gradually lose some of its effectiveness.

We recommend no more than 10 repositionings whenever possible.

The actual lifespan can vary significantly depending on the surface.

Smooth surfaces

such as glass, windows, and suitable tiles generally allow easier removal because they don't release paint or wall particles onto the adhesive.

Painted walls

can behave differently. The type and condition of the paint can affect how well the backing sticks after removal.

For the best long-term performance, choose your installation location carefully before applying the play wall.

How Long Will It Last?

There's no single number we can honestly give you because the lifespan depends on how it's used, where it's installed, and how well it's cared for.
